Many of the world’s popular gaming franchises are jumping into the competitive universe of esports. And when it comes to esports, we just can’t get on without talking about some of the craziest bans in history.
But this time, we are only going to focus on the most outrageous gaming ban of all time. The ban that not only restricts you from streaming the gameplay of your favorite title or competing against other players in esports but literally bans you from playing any game that falls under the umbrella of a certain publisher.
It’s not like we haven’t seen insane bans in the past such as the IBuyPower game throwing scandal or some other famous streamer allegedly trying to find loopholes in the anti-hack system of Fortnite. But let’s just try to wrap your head around this, EA bans a player for being too vocal about mishandling the FIFA world championship.
EA vs. Kurt Fennec
EA’s FIFA series has always been the gem of the EA’s sports game lineup, having millions of dedicated fans all around the world.and while it doesn’t have as many players as CS GO competitive scene, it still remains to be the biggest sports game based esports title in the world with Millions of dollars in the prize pool.
And just like any other esports game, FIFA has Kurt Fennec as one of the best competitors in the league. But it seems like EA and Kurt Fennec have a bad blood that doesn’t seem to settle for years. Kurt has been openly criticizing EA’s competitive scene saying that EA’s product (FIFA) has a lot of bugs and glitches that need to be fixed and EA shouldn’t be rushing on the FIFA world championships without fixing them first.
This has been going on for years, Kurt has been extremely vocal at so many occasions, so much so that sometimes he even crosses the line. Back in 2018, EA decided to finally ban him for launching personal attacks on the players and stuff, but it didn’t stick for a long time. However, it didn’t stop Kurt from being extremely critical about the game.
Kurt lost it when he spit on EA’s logo in a live video that he later removed but EA finally decided that it was enough and hit Kurt with a ban from competing in any of the EA sponsored tournaments but that’s not the end of the story, after this ban a number EA employee’s accounts were hacked and Kurt released a video where he called them by their names.
EA has had enough with the personal attacks and consecutive violations of their terms of services and so they decided to permanently ban Kurt from every single product and service that falls under their name. This is probably one of the longest esports feud in the history of gaming between a major company and a popular esports player.
