This is a very difficult time, with COVID-19 still lurking out there, many companies are closed or have made a huge staff reduction. As many people are unemployed, the competition will be fierce; but this cannot discourage us, only make us understand that it probably costs a little more than normal, but that we have to try.
What cannot stop us is insecurity in ourselves, “I have no work experience”, “why would they select me instead of someone else”, “my resume is too empty”, etc.
First steps
The first thing we have to do is apply for the ghostwriters company so that we can send the electronic university degree anywhere in the world and thus expand the possibilities of finding a good job.
Important: We must take care of our social networks and erase everything that is inappropriate. We can also create a more professional profile and another to put what we want, but with a name and an email address that is not related to us. Our social networks must present a professional and serious image of ourselves and must be updated with topics that are interesting in our sector. We must also have a profile on LinkedIn and keep it active.
Networking
Practicing networking is the most effective way to find a job. We can already have a wonderful file that, since we don’t know anyone, we take it raw. We are like that; we will always trust someone we know more.
Strengths to exploit
To find a job you have to sell yourself well, both in our curriculum and in our attitude in face to face. Therefore, we must review our strengths and add them to our CV, together with the cover letter or in it, to compensate for the gap left by our lack of experience:
1. Illusion to find a job
Nobody is more excited about joining a job than a recent graduate. We have been preparing for it for years, enduring stressful exams, hours of study, sleepless nights … Many sufferings to reach the goal we have already reached.
2. Willingness to learn
Every recent graduate is willing to learn. In fact, we’ve been doing it for a lot of years. We have lived exclusively to go to class, take notes, memorize … Learning is what we do best and we have shown it after passing each exam and obtaining our degree.
3. Humility
It is inherent to the new graduate. Having no experience, we take each activity as an apprenticeship, we will ask questions and ask for help, so the company can train and mold us to become the worker it needs.
3. Technological advantages
A young person naturally knows the use of new technologies because they have grown up with them and that is something that every company values. Whether we have specialized in them or not, we must not forget to add all these skills to our CV if we want to find a job.
4. Improvisation
That is something that every student has practiced in each of those exams that they had no idea and have managed to succeed. Well, we have not had panic situations on many occasions! At the university this happens every other day. So, with the accumulated experience, we will surely be able to get ahead in any situation. If we are good at improvising, that means that we are creative and we are not paralyzed by a problem. It is an advantage that, without a doubt, our employers must know.
5. Adaptability to the new job
Companies know that no one adapts better to change than young people. A recent graduate is moldable like modeling clay. That is why we must let the human resources director know that we can assume the philosophy of the company as if it were ours as soon as they give us an opportunity.
6. Knowledge
When a recent graduate seeks employment, he must make it clear that lacking work experience does not mean not having the necessary knowledge. Being a newcomer to the world of work is something that everyone has gone through, but not everyone has the same studies or updated knowledge at the time we live. A young mind sees and knows things that work experience does not give, but its own generational experience. The world is perceived differently depending on the time we live in and, for a company, it is always of great value to have people who can contribute different visions of the same reality.
Lack of experience should not be an obstacle to finding a good job, even if many will see it that way. It is up to us to change that story and sell ourselves as an opportunity to contribute new and valuable things. The important thing is not to get discouraged and do everything we can to get your head in. Once inside, everything will be easier.
Good luck to everyone!
