What is 11 anime?
11 anime is an anime series; each episode lasts for 11 seconds.
The first 2 episodes are set in Japan, but other episodes take place in foreign countries. The final episode takes place all over the world (it’s not known exactly where).
First 3 episodes:
Episode 1
A man mysteriously wakes up to find himself locked inside a room; he tries to escape through the window but cannot escape; reveals that someone has trapped him here because of something he did. The last line of the episode says “What have I done?”
Episode 2
The trapped person looks at a calendar and notices that it’s been a year since he has been here. He then starts digging a hole out with his fingers and suddenly sees something red on his hands. He realizes he is bleeding and does not know why.
Episode 3
The person continues to dig a hole, starting from where he left off last time. He looks up from the ground covered with dirt and sees that there is a ladder leading out of the room; at the end of it, he sees a white light shining through the window which gives him hope that he can escape this place soon.
Episode 4
A man named Kitarou lives in London, but dies when something goes wrong during an illegal magic show (the details are unknown). Later on, after death, Kitarou’s soul becomes a ghost who haunts people for their own entertainment by targeting them randomly. However because of his violent nature towards others, he is punished by the gods and bound to an ancient temple.
Episode 5
A man living in Japan named Tamotsu Sugioka dies. His son Takuro visits him at his grave and leaves a bottle of sake next to it. Then, Tamotsu Sugioka’s soul comes out from the large sword near his grave and takes over another dead body using its mouth. He wanders around town, trying to find someone who can let him eat something before he dies again (he cannot eat or drink anything). After some searching, he goes into a restaurant but there is nobody there; all that remains inside is a family photo on the wall with 4 people (2 parents and 2 children), captioned “We’re going abroad and cannot come back” (The family next door had gone abroad on a vacation and died; the restaurant is their house). After some more searching, he finds a pack of cigarettes and smokes one. He then enters another restaurant where several people are dining at for dinner; they notice that someone has entered the restaurant but he does not look like an ordinary person (he wears nothing except his underwear with his sword on him; seems to be suffering from hunger which can be seen through his skinny body); however, since they think it’s just someone who went for a walk in the streets, they ignore him. Tamotsu Sugioka goes to beg them for food but they try to avoid him by eating quickly so that he won’t ask them for some. When everyone is done eating, they hurry out of the restaurant as if they’re running from someone. Tamotsu Sugioka realizes that he will die again soon and tries to find a way to save himself by talking to a random person on the streets but nobody would listen to him so he ends up going back home where no one is there either (his wife had committed suicide).
Episode 6
Setsuna Nakahara, a middle school girl who lives in Japan, gets bullied at school because of her name which means “long distance”. It was difficult for her to even talk with others because she lived far away from her school and had trouble getting home due to train delays caused by earthquakes. One day, she decided that she would only talk to a boy named Daichi Sawamura who she thought was a nice person. However, there was a rumour going around at school that someone had seen her holding hands with this boy and kissing him. She denied saying that it wasn’t true but other students ignored what she said and bullied her even more for being so secretive about it. It got so bad to the point where she got beaten up by some students from another school. When she got home, Setsuna Nakahara realised that something was wrong with herself after seeing blood flowing out of her nose which happened because of the beatings made on her by those bullies. That night, Setsuna Nakahara hanged herself in her room a scarf around her neck as she found out that she was bleeding from her nose earlier. Her ghost began haunting the school building because of her regrets in life; however, she was caught by a boy who knew about her situation and wanted to help her (he died in an accident later on). They became close friends and he decided to bring out the “real” person behind this girl named Setsuna Nakahara; he helped her change herself because of how misunderstood she was due to what others said about her name. When people at school started bullying him, someone found out that his real hobby was fixing old clocks (Setsuna means long distance which is why even when they were best friends, no one could understand their friendship) and then everyone started calling him names like “Clock Loving Weirdo”. He got depressed about this and decided to go to the roof of his school’s building where he hung himself. Some students found out later on that it was because of them constantly bullying him over Setsuna Nakahara’s name that led him to commit suicide.
With lots of time on hand, the girl returns back to her office but suddenly remembers something important she had forgotten before leaving work; she heads back home with all haste since there is no one at her house due to her family going for a vacation (her grandfather had already died). On her way heading home, another earthquake strikes and causes several power outages in the city which leaves people scared about their own safety as well as those living next door who cannot find a way to cook food inside their own apartment. The girl goes back home to get something she forgot before leaving work but when she tries to get in, someone else is already inside her house so she decides to go check what was happening next door; the apartment was filled with smoke and everything had fallen down due to one of the earthquakes. She notices that there’s a young child trapped under all the stuff inside the room which makes her realize how important it is for her to find out why people die (turns out it’s because they don’t know anything). She then comes back home and hears loud noises from upstairs; that person who went into her house earlier was at his bedroom trying to kill himself by hanging himself on a rope tied his neck. Turns out that his family was involved in the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami (he himself survived) which is why he wanted to end his life because of all the things happening around him (he never knew how to cook food because everyone else did it for him). The girl rushes upstairs and tells him to stop what he’s doing; she unwraps the rope tied on his neck and hugs him as they both start confessing their feelings towards each other (in tears).
The next day, the two go back to work but realize that something has changed about her friends at work due to what happened before. It turns out one of them knows a lot more about love stories than they do since they always read romance books from the library and become inspired from these books to confess their feelings towards their colleague at work. They agree to take a break from reading those books because it could lead them astray from their goal of not having the protagonists end up lonely due to not understanding anything. The other girl agrees with this after what happened last night; turns out she came back home only to realize that her family went for a vacation without her (her grandfather had already died before they left earlier). She goes back to the office and tells everyone about what happened over the past few days as well as those who have been through many hardships in life which is why they now know about how important it is for them to find that “special connection” between each other.
In the end, they all agree to continue reading those romance books and the girl who was trying to commit suicide decides to remain alive so he can go on a date with his love interest. “Because we should never give up, no one will ever understand anything if we do.”
The next day at work, everyone is met with a surprise as the protagonist suddenly shows up again after disappearing for weeks (he was chosen as one of the protagonists due to having an unknown illness). It turns out that they were able to save him from his illness by understanding each other; this story also emphasizes how important it is for people not only in the anime industry but every other type of industry out there (eg: sports and music) to find true connection between each other since this.
